Random House Children’s is launching a new graphic novel imprint, Random House Graphic, in fall 2019. Gina Gagliano will lead the line as publishing director. She joins from from First Second Books, where she was most recently the associate director, marketing & publicity. Gagliano says, “From awards to bestsellers, graphic novels have been advancing from success to success over the past decade. It’s the perfect time to take the next step forward with a kids comics imprint at Random House. I’m excited to be part of building a brighter future for the medium—one where there are comics for every reader, in every home, on everyone’s bookshelves—with Random House Graphic.”

Michelle Obama will serve as the opening speaker for the American Library Association’s annual conference on Friday, June 22 in New Orleans, starting at 4 PM. It’s her first announced appearance in advance of the November 13 publication of her memoir BECOMING by Crown.

Edwin G. Burrows, 74, historian and co-author of Gotham, died Friday in Huntington, NY from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
