Longtime Dallas Morning News books editor Michael Merschel was among 43 staffers laid off earlier this week, after 25 years with the newspaper. “The past 12 years, I got to cover books. The Dallas Morning News let me spend many thousands of dollars over the decade to work with the best critics I could find, which let me introduce a decade’s worth of great books and writers to a great city.”
Amazon ceo and founder Jeff Bezos and his wife, novelist MacKenzie Bezos, announced on Twitter that they getting divorced: “After a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends.”

Abrams’ Amulet Press will publish Jeff Kinney‘s first book outside of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series on April 9, with an announced 3-million copy first printing. Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson’s Journal features Greg Heffley’s best friend Rowley Jefferson, who aims to tell Greg’s story as his biographer, “But it turns out Rowley is a poor choice for the job, and his ‘biography’ of Greg says more about himself than it does about his best friend.” They will publish the fourteenth Wimpy Kid book in fall 2019.
