Bridget Smith is joining Jabberwocky Literary Agency as an agent, representing middle grade, young adult, and adult fiction. She was formerly at Dunham Literary.

At Chronicle Books, Chelsea Masquelier has become operations coordinator.

As expected, the ABA membership officially elected four new directors and a new president and vice president, per the nominations announced in February. The transition, in which vice president Jamie Fiocco of Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill, NC will become president and Bradley Graham of Politics & Prose in Washington, DC will become vice president/secretary, occurs at Book Expo. Current president Robert Sindelar and board member Annie Philbrick will step down from the board.

Simon & Schuster sales rep for the past 19 years Kelly Stidham will retire at the end of May.

Ayesha Pande Literary has launched a “forward thinking and inclusive speakers bureau,” Pande Lecture Management.

Opening Sales
Scribner‘s version of The Mueller Report, published with The Washington Post, sold approximately 42,000 paperbacks in its first week on sale as tracked by NPD Bookscan — the second bestselling book of the week, behind Jeff Kinney’s Diary of An Awesome Friendly Kid. Skyhorse Publishing‘s edition sold over 3,700 copies in the same period, with Melville House‘s edition tracking sales of under 200 copies in Bookscan — “likely because they took longer to reach stores” than Scribner, the AP reports. Agents, authors and other qualified professionals can subscribe to Bookscan data through PublishersMarketplace, from our new small monthly data packages up to our longstanding annual unlimited searching.
