Tammy Cabot has been promoted to vp & director, specialty retail sales at Penguin Random House, to lead a newly unified cross-company specialty retail effort, serving non-book retailers of all sizes and interests.

Tiffany Liao has been promoted to senior editor at Holt Children’s.

Carrie Hannigan and Josh Getzler have renamed their agency Hannigan Getzler Literary, following the departure in September of co-founding partner Jesseca Salky.

At least 10 people were laid off at Bustle, including senior books editor Cristina Arreola.

Washington Post book critic and associate editor Carlos Lozada was elected to the Pulitzer Prize board (as was New Yorker editor David Remnick).

Richard Nelson, author of The Island Within and Heart and Blood, died on November 4.
Gabe Habash, fiction reviews editor at Publishers Weekly, will leave the company next week. David Varno will succeed him as fiction reviews editor, starting November 18. Phoebe Cramer has been promoted to full-time associate reviews editor.
Former chairman and ceo of Collins Ian Chapman died November 7, days after celebrating his 94th birthday. (He is the father of S&S UK ceo Ian Chapman.)

Initiatives
Simon & Schuster will offer relief assistance to independent booksellers that have been affected by the ongoing wildfires in California. The company will provide “extensions on payments for booksellers who have had physical damage due to the wildfires, or are otherwise negatively impacted.” Booksellers should contact their sales or customer service representative for more information.

Imprints
The Andy Cohen Books imprint announced by Holt in mid-2016 is actually going to launch, some time in 2020. The inaugural list is led by an untitled memoir by Mariah Carey. Bravo personality Dr. Jackie Walters’ book THE QUEEN V publishes February 4, and Bevy Smith from Cohen’s Sirius XM channel will release in September.

Awards
The Book Industry Study Group presented annual service awards to Bill Rosenblatt (Industry Connector); Tricia McCraney (Standards Bearer); and David Hetherington (Community Builder).
