Macmillan Joins Ingram Content Group In Deciding Not to Attend London Book Fair

On Friday afternoon, Macmillan decided that their US trade division will not attend the London Book Fair either. Spokesperson Erin Coffey confirmed the publisher “will not be participating in the London Book Fair, out of concern for the health and safety of our employees.” Earlier on Friday, another large exhibitor, Ingram Content Group, told PL the company will not attend LBF after informing staff on Friday morning. MThe announcements follow Simon & Schuster’s Friday morning decision to skip the event, and individual withdrawals by employees and teams at other houses that have made attendance optional. Ingram Content Group, Macmillan Trade US Will Skip London Book Fair

Another large exhibitor, Ingram Content Group, told PL the company will not attend London Book Fair after informing staff on Friday morning. Macmillan Trade US also withdrew on Friday afternoon. Spokesperson Erin Coffey confirmed the publisher “will not be participating in the London Book Fair, out of concern for the health and safety of our employees.” The announcements follow Simon & Schuster’s Friday morning decision to skip the event, and individual withdrawals by employees and teams at other houses that have made attendance optional.

Friday morning, Simon & Schuster became the first large publishing company to withdraw from this year’s London Book Fair. Lagardere Publishing Reports a Strong 4th Quarter

Lagardere reported fourth quarter and full-year year results Thursday. For the quarter, sales at Lagardere Publishing were €677 million, up from €645 million. For the year, publishing sales were €2.384 billion, up €132 million from €2.252 billion last year, up 2.8 percent, like for like, and company attributed the growth to “a good performance in Education – particularly in France and Spain, the success of the new Asterix album, and sustained growth in Partworks and Mobile Games.” Annual revenue rose in France, but US sales were down 1 percent for the year, and UK sales were down 1.4 percent. E-books accounted […]
