Harper, Hachette and Bonnier UK to Return to Office
England is ready for people to go back to the workplace. Employees at Harper UK, Hachette UK and Bonnier Books UK will be expected to return to the office, the Bookseller confirms, as the UK has lifted work-from-home guidance put in place during the Omicron surge. Harper and Bonnier employees will be expected to work in the office two or more days per week starting January 24. SIBA, NAIBA Reimagine Trade Shows; AWP Commits to In-Person Conference
The Southern Independent Booksellers Association and New Atlantic Booksellers Association have reinvented New Voices New Rooms, the joint virtual conference the organizations developed two years ago. In a departure from fall regional bookseller shows, NVNR will hold two virtual events, in the spring and summer, which organizers say works better for booksellers’ buying schedules and doesn’t conflict with other events. The May 17-18 conference will focus on author events, and the August 8-11 conference will look similar to the past NVNR with “education, bookseller retreats, author presentations, new and upcoming titles, and publisher studios.” After pausing to reassess its plans, […]
Starbucks to Give Out 1M eBooks of Netflix Book Club Title
As part of its partnership with the Netflix Book Club, Starbucks will give away a million free ebooks of Sweet Magnolias: Feels like Family by Sherryl Woods, the February book club pick. (The second season of the Sweet Magnolias series begins streaming February 4.) Customers who receive emails from Starbucks or the Netflix Book Club will receive a code to download the title through Google Play starting today. According to the publisher, “It’s the standard Mira ebook edition sold to Starbucks for premium distribution to its customers.”
