Human Kinetics Acquires Lotus Publishing

Health and sports publisher Human Kinetics has acquired UK illustrated books publisher Lotus Publishing. Lotus’s list of about 50 health and anatomy titles will become an imprint at HK titled Lotus Books. Lotus founder Jon Hutchings “will continue to work with authors and develop new books for the imprint in 2025 to help ensure a smooth transition,” according to a release. Lotus’s existing co-publishing agreements with North Atlantic Books and Inner Traditions will continue for backlist titles, and new titles will be distributed solely by HK.

Imprints: Mubi Editions

December 2, 2024By Erin Somers

Global film distributor and streaming service Mubi will launch a publishing arm called Mubi Editions in April 2025. The publisher will be “dedicated to cinema and the arts” and will put out 2-3 books a year “across a range of formats and genres.” It will be distributed in the US and Canada by Distributed Art Publishers and worldwide by Thames & Hudson.
