University Press of Kansas is launching Plainspoken Books, “a new nonfiction trade imprint focused on bringing Midwest stories into national conversations.” Editor Alec Loganbill will lead the imprint, supported by the entire University Press of Kansas staff. The first title, WHIRLWIND by Bill Kurtis, about “the legendary Chicago newsman whose early life in Kansas set him on a path to cover some of the most iconic stories in modern history,” will debut this month.
