As part of an organizational readjustment at Perseus, all three distribution  – Consortium, Perseus Distribution and PGW – and their respective leaders Julie Schaper, Sabrina McCarthy and Susan Reich, will now report directly to coo Joe Mangan. In addition, the sales department, headed by Matty Goldberg, will now report directly to cfo Charles Gallagher, as will the supply chain division led by Greg Anastas.

Chelsea Green is celebrating their first year as an employee-owned enterprise with a $2,500 cash bonus to employees. President and publisher Margo Baldwin quips, “If Random House can give all their employees a $5000 bonus for 50 Shades of Gray, then Chelsea Green can give everyone a $2500 bonus due to the phenomenal success of The Art of Fermentation.” The company says sales through November were up 30 percent year-to-date.

Andrea Vuleta will become executive director of the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association in mid-January, Shelf Awareness reports. Most recently she was store manager at Mrs. Nelson’s Toy and Book Shop in La Verne, CA.

The American Booksellers Association had a “last-minute change” by their telephone service provider, so their new phone number (at their new White Plains offices) is actually: (914) 406-7500.

Macmillan Children’s is adding a “crowdsourced teen romance imprint that will work with both writers and readers to discover (and then publish) the best, most SW♥♥N-worthy, teen romance novels.” Called Swoon Reads, it will be part of  Feiwel and Friends. They will open for business next spring, and the website says manuscripts “chosen by the community and the SW♥♥N Reads publishing team” will get a $10,000 advance and a standard world rights contract.

Prime Books is launching a new sci-fi/fantasy digital imprint, Masque Books, in July 2013. Prime’s publisher Sean Wallace and senior editor Paula Guran will both work on the line, with former senior science fiction and fantasy reviewer for RT Book Reviews Natalie Luhrs joining the company as acquisitions editor.

Kindle Singles have gone live in the UK, the company announced. Further to our report yesterday that Andrew Rosenheim has joined the company’s European publishing unit, and the Bookseller says he is the editor for the UK singles line.

The NYT has now released their long web version of John Branch’s Snow Fall: The Avalanche at Tunnel Creek as well as the ebook version, their first with Byliner.
