New Author Survey Results

December 5, 2013By Michael Cader

Among the multiple presentations of original data due at January’s Digital Book World is the return of last year’s closely followed author survey, from DBW and Writer’s Digest. This year’s survey drew participation from over 9,000 authors, and the conference presentation will include analysis from author and professor of data analytics and applied social research Dana Beth Weinberg. For now, DBW.com has posted a sampling of the some of the results, ahead of the event.

Discounted pricing to the biggest-yet Digital Book World Conference expires a week from tomorrow, so this is a great time to grab your ticket and put DBW on your calendar for January. The absolute best pricing on individual tickets is through our registration link for Publishers Lunch readers, which provides a 10 percent discount on the posted prices.

Recent additions to the roster of featured speakers include author of the forthcoming Get Rich Carefully and investment expert Jim Cramer; Simon & Schuster ceo Carolyn Reidy and Sourcebooks ceo Dominique Raccah, joining O’Reilly Media founder Tim O’Reilly and F+W ceo David Nussbaum on the opening CEO Roundtable; author Brad Stone as part of a block of programming analyzing Amazon; and Anatomy of Buzz author Emanuel Rosen on what really influences customers — joining dozens of executives, innovators, investors, booksellers, librarians and more from across the industry in a packed two days of about 50 sessions in all.

Plus, the optional third day (Monday, January 13) offers more choices than ever: Our third-annual Launch Kids conference, the biggest digital trade show focused entirely on children’s publishing; a new day-long Making Information Pay for Higher Ed from the BISG; a conference focused on ebook design and production; and a great line-up of workshops. (The high-value total access pass lets you into any of those additional Monday events except for the BISG conference at a great package price.)
