Imprint News:
Carole Tonkinson‘s new inspirational lifestyle imprint at Pan Macmillan in the UK has been named Bluebird. She says in the announcement, “The aim of Bluebird is to publish books for life in every sense: life-enhancing but also lasting, the ones we turn to again and again for inspiration…. I love the idea of the bluebird: plucky and unpretentious.” The line launches in May and aims to publish 24 titles a year, “split between UK authors and the very best buy-ins from the US, where many key health and wellness trends originate.”

Obituaries:
Bookseller Stuart Gersen, co-owner of Longfellow Books in Portland, ME, died last week of lung cancer. He was 64.

Literary critic and author John Bayley, 89, died at home on January 12, his publisher reported on Wednesday. Bayley “found an international readership with his memoir Elegy for Iris, a moving account of his life with the novelist Iris Murdoch, his wife, after she was struck by Alzheimer’s disease.”
