At Public Affairs, Colleen Lawrie will join the company as a senior editor on March 9. She was most recently an editor at Harper Collins. Tony Forde starts work there as a publicist on March 18. He was most recently an associate publicist at Twelve.
Molly Fonseca will start as marketing manager at Flatiron Books on March 23, reporting to associate publisher Liz Keenan. She has been at Penguin Random House in the international sales department. Steven Boriack joins Flatiron as senior publicist on March 30, reporting to publicity director Marlena Bittner.
Chelsey Heller has joined Zachary Shuster Harmsworth as subsidiary rights director and will also be handling foreign rights for Kuhn Projects. Most recently she was subsidiary rights associate at Writers House.
At Berrett-Koehler, Anna Leinberger has been promoted to associate editor.
Author Andrew Solomon has been elected to a two-year term as president of the PEN America Center, taking over from Peter Godwin.
In Holland, Jacqueline Smit has bought the dormant Orlando imprint from AW Bruna. Smit had founded Orlando in 2010, but Bruna closed down the line in 2014. Smit will relaunch this summer, starting with Alice Hoffman’s The Museum of Extraordinary Things and L Marie Adeline’s Secret Revealed.

The Whiting Award winners were announced Thursday evening at an event at the New-York Historical Society. They include Leopoldine Core, Dan Josefson, and Azareen Van der Vliet Oloomi in fiction; Elena Passarello in nonfiction; Anthony Carelli, Aracelis Girmay, Jenny Johnson, and Roger Reeves in poetry; and Lucas Hnath and Anne Washburn in drama.
Founder of Usborne Publishing Peter Usborne will received the London Book Fair’s twelfth annual Lifetime Achievement Award in International Publishing.
