NBCC Finalists, With Honors for Orange, Corrigan, and Arte Publico Press
The National Book Critics Circle announced 31 finalists in six categories for its 2018 awards, along with three award winners. Arte Público Press wins the Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award; Tommy Orange’s novel There There wins the John Leonard Prize recognizing an outstanding first book; and Maureen Corrigan receives the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing. The rest of the winners will be announced in a ceremony in New York on March 14. The NBCC finalists typically diverge from the National Book Awards shortlist, and this year is no exception. Tuttle-Mori Agency has announced the appointment of three new board members: Chigusa Ogino as executive director, Manami Tamaoki as director, and Harumi Nakamura as director. Liane-Louise Smith joins Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency today in the the new role of rights director. She was at Furniss Lawton. Regnery Books has started a Regnery Media division recently, providing public relations services, run by the publisher’s senior director of publicity Alyssa Cordova.
