Lauren Lauzon has joined Penguin Press as marketing manager. She was previously with William Morrow. Tulsa bookstore Phantasmagoria Books and Records reported on Facebook that the man who spraypainted graffiti and a swastika outside the store is in custody. “He has been referred for a mental health evaluation because he reportedly thought we were an army surplus store that was in this location 25 years ago. Katie Boland has been promoted to events and programming manager, books at Catapult, Counterpoint, Soft Skull. In the UK, Richard Atkinson is joining Penguin Press in the newly created role of publishing director starting September 2 and reporting to managing director Stefan McGrath. He was previously senior commissioning editor at Bloomsbury UK. Phantasmagoria Books and Records in Tulsa, OK continues to be harassed by white nationalists. On Monday, co-owner Shannon Iwanski saw a man spray paint a swastika and graffiti on the sidewalk in front of the store, and reported it to local police.

Malcolm Edwards, former Gollancz chair and consultant publisher at Orion who left Hachette UK in May after 43 years at the company, will join Welbeck Publishing in September to serve as publisher of André Deutsch.
