They closed the year with their best fourth quarter sales ever, which lifted full-year sales to $1.06 billion – a new all-time high, and the first time above $1 billion since 2019 (when sales were $1.05 billion). AP Stylebook Updates Recommendations for Inclusive Storytelling
The 56th edition of The Associated Press Stylebook, released on Wednesday, includes updated guidance for reporting on race, gender, disability, and more, as well as a new chapter on inclusive storytelling, Poynter reports. Among the updates are recommendations to capitalize Deaf when referring to the Deaf community and to use they/them/their as much as possible for individuals who use those pronouns. Knopf Canada Launches Alchemy; Soft Skull Partners With Kimbilio
Knopf Canada has launched Alchemy, a new publishing program led by poet and novelist Dionne Brand. Brand will work with publishing director Lynn Henry and publisher Martha Kanya-Forstner to publish two-to-three fiction and nonfiction titles per year. Elsewhere, Soft Skull Press will partner with fiction writing community Kimbilio, “acquiring up to two books a year from Kimbilio fellows and faculty members” over the next three years, with the first title publishing in late 2023.
