Penguin Random House will sell Fodor’s Travel to Internet Brands, a Los Angeles-based online media and technology company that owns FlyerTalk.com and Wikitravel.org. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and deal is expected to close shortly. Fodor’s will become part of Internet Brands’ consumer Home/Travel group, though PRH, which acquired the 80-year-old company in 1986, will continue to sell and distribute Fodor’s print guides to the book trade on behalf of Internet Brands. Customers Will Finally Start Collecting On $400 Million in Consumer eBook Credits This Week
As we reported earlier this month, consumers who are eligible to receive part of the $400 million in compensation as part of Apple’s ebook antitrust settlement with the state attorneys general and the consumer class will be disbursed beginning on Tuesday. Consumers who have accounts at the major book retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Apple will receive a $6.93 credit for every ebook which was a New York Times bestseller, and a $1.57 credit for other purchased ebooks. Thomas Dunne Books Gets “Smaller And More Focused”
After 45 years at St. Martin’s Press and 30 years running his own imprint, Thomas Dunne announced the imprint will become a “smaller and more focused group” consisting of executive editor Peter Joseph; associate editor Melanie Fried; and Dunne’s assistant Cameron Jones. The restructured imprint will continue to acquire several dozen titles a year, while remaining Thomas Dunne staffers will be absorbed into St. Martin’s.
