Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books has announced a co-publishing agreement with independent publisher of romantic fiction, Omnific Publishing. Under the agreement, Gallery and Pocket will co-publish “a select number” of titles with Omnific, both as ebooks and print books. Additionally, S&S will distribute all Omnific titles. Longtime vp, director of publicity at Penguin Maureen Donnelly, 59, died Monday at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ of breast cancer. Before joining Penguin, Donnelly worked at Simon & Schuster and New American Library in a publishing career that spanned 40 years. A wake will be held in Roselle, NJ on Wednesday, with a funeral to follow the following day. Condolences can be offered here. Paul Crichton is leaving Simon & Schuster Children’s, where he is vp, executive director of publicity, on June 27, after more than nine years. The UK’s Atlantic Books announced Thursday that founder, ceo and publisher Toby Mundy has resigned from the company after 14 years, and will leave on June 30. Eimear McBride won the Women’s Prize for Fiction for her novel A GIRL IS A HALF-FORMED THING, published by Galley Beggar Press in the UK and by Coffee House Press in the US in September.
