FiledBy is providing author-generated book information to the Ingram Content Group to populate their title databases including iPage. As part of the agreement, Ingram will also stream book and author data to FiledBy for inclusion on their website. Ingram Chief Content Officer Phil Ollila says, “Our work with FiledBy will give us an additional source to obtain the most up-to-date and accurate bibliographic data for books in our database.” Putnam has released Spencer Johnson’s longtime bestseller Who Moved My Cheese?, first published in 1998, as an ebook today. So over the weekend we ran a short link to Kraft Foods’ proudly announcing the publication of their “first branded ebook,” SPREAD A LITTLE JOY. Comprising 70 recipes, it’s purpose is to show that “it’s amazing what a little Philly can do.  It’s more than an extra ingredient — it’s a secret weapon.” Once upon a time this kind of project would have been issued in conjunction with a traditional publisher, or at least a packager. Scholastic launched a social networking site “for readers around the world,” called YouAreWhatYouRead.com. In addition to building community around lists of favorite books they call Bookprints–with a stream of comments, news and reviews to be added soon–the site features celebrity Bookprints from 125 notables, including Scarlett Johansson Jodi Picoult, Malcolm Gladwell, Judy Blume, Bill Clinton, and others.
