The Booker Prize judges broke with the award’s firm policy and jointly conferred this year’s award on two novels: The Testaments by Margaret Atwood and Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo. Evaristo is the first black woman to win the prize, and at 79 Atwood is the oldest winner. American Booksellers Association president Jamie Fiocco announced Friday that Allison K. Hill will take over as ceo of the organization on March 1. She has been president and CEO of Vroman’s Bookstore, in Pasadena, CA. She will succeed Oren Teicher, who is retiring after 10 years of the leading the ABA.
