Author Cornelia Funke‘s new independent publishing house Breathing Books has a sales and distribution agreement with PGW for the US and Canada. Her first title, The Golden Yarn, is now set for publication on December 1, 2015. As some authors found out at the beginning of the week, editorial director for Harper Paperback and Perennial Cal Morgan will be leaving HarperCollins on November 20 after 16 years at the company. He writes on Facebook: “After the past few years of intensive work, I’ve increasingly felt the need to take a pause, to seed my own garden for a while, to read books I haven’t read, do some writing, and start planning some new projects of my own. Wendy Levinson (formerly Silbert) is re-joining Harvey Klinger on November 30 in the newly created position of director of development. In her new role, Levinson will seek new clients for the agency focusing on adult fiction and non-fiction with the occasional YA or middle grade. The clients will then be distributed among the agency’s agents. She will also work in an editorial capacity on existing agency projects. Maggie Southard has joined Little, Brown as publicist. Anna Stein will join ICM as an agent on December 1, based in the New York office. She has been an agent at Aitken Alexander for the past six years, opening and running their New York office.
