ESPN media network Andscape is launching a book imprint with Disney Publishing Worldwide called Andscape Books. The imprint will publish 30 books a year, covering “narrative non-fiction and memoir genres, in addition to a line of young adult and children’s titles.” The first list will contain eight titles, launching with NFL journalist Jason Reid’s Rise of the Black Quarterback, a history of Black NFL players planned for August 2. Disney Publishing editorial director Jennifer Levesque will lead the imprint, with Kelli Martin, Disney Publishing executive editor, also acquiring and editing. Both will work with Andscape editor in chief Raina Kelley.

Zando announced it has partnered with Sarah Jessica Parker to launch SJP Lit, which “will publish sweeping, expansive, thought-provoking, and big-hearted literary and commercial works that are inclusive of international and underrepresented voices, leveraging her far-reaching celebrity to connect both emerging and established authors with new and eager readers.” Like Zando’s other imprint partners, SJP Lit will publish between four and six books over the course of three years. Thomas Nelson Publishing announced a partnership with Magnolia Publications, a new independent company from Chip and Joanna Gaines. “Jo and I have been changed for the better by people’s stories. Imprints: Mindy’s Book Studio
Mindy Kaling is launching an imprint, Mindy’s Book Studio with Amazon Publishing and Amazon Studios. Starting in late 2022, the imprint “will publish books across genres, from fresh romantic comedies and poignant coming-of-age stories to make readers laugh—and cringe—to suspenseful dramas with unforgettable female protagonists.” Published work will then be adapted for streaming on Amazon Prime by Amazon Studios, with Kaling holding first-producer option. Amazon to Close India’s Westland Books
Amazon will shut down Indian publisher Westland Books, which it acquired in 2016 and made part of Amazon Publishing. They said in a statement, “After a thorough review, we have made the difficult decision to no longer operate Westland. Sourcebooks will launch an Ebony Magazine Publishing imprint, “to showcase the extraordinary work of Black authors and celebrate Black stories.” Planning to publish four to eight titles a year, it starts with BLACK HOLLYWOOD: Reimagining Iconic Movie Moments by photographer Carell Augustus in October 2022, with a foreword by Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker.
