Imprints: Entangled’s Red Tower Books

Entangled’s Red Tower Books, a new adult fiction imprint focused on romantic fantasy and science fiction, first appeared in our digital pages almost a month ago with the acquisition of Rebecca Yarros’s new adult fantasy FOURTH WING, but now the company has provided full details. Molly Majumder is editorial director, and the company says the line “will champion feminist and empowered perspectives in the fantasy and science fiction space, while also enfolding in…romance.”

HQN Books Relaunches as Canary Street Press

Harlequin’s flagship romance imprint HQN is relaunching as Canary Street Press (named for Toronto’s Canary District, a historic area in downtown that has undergone a renewal), and “reflecting its expansion to publish a greater variety of modern, commercial love stories.” They write in a release that they plan to publish in trade paperback and hardcover formats, as well as mass market paperbacks. Little, Brown Children’s is launching Little, Brown Ink, a graphic novel imprint for young readers focused on “authentic, visual stories that readers will relate to, learn from, and return to again and again.” Andrea Colvin, editorial director, graphic publishing, will lead the imprint, which will publish approximately 20 titles a year, both fiction and nonfiction, ranging from early readers to middle grade to young adult. Kensington Publishing has acquired sci-fi/fantasy publisher Erewhon Books, which will continue as an imprint of Kensington. Publisher Sarah Guan and her team will stay with the line. (Co-founder Liz Gorinsky left Erewhon in March.) Having recently moved distributed to PGW from Workman, Erewhon’s titles will be taken over by Kensington’s distributor Penguin Random House Publisher Services next year. Imprints: Oliver Rhodes Launches Storm Publishing

Bookouture founder and former ceo Oliver Rhodes has launched Storm Publishing, a new digital publishing company that will “publish adult commercial fiction in ebook, audio and print-on-demand paperback globally,” looking to buy world English rights at a minimum. The company writes in a release that it plans to pay “an author royalty of 50% of net receipts on both ebook  and audio formats,” though they do not pay advances. Alcon Publishing Expands Partnership with Titan Books

Alcon Publishing, the publishing division of production company Alcon Entertainment, will expand its partnership with Titan Books to publish fiction beginning in 2023. Penguin Random House will distribute the books in North America. The two companies have been working together on comics, graphic novels and art books since 2018. Four titles are already in progress, with the first, Suborbital 7 by John Shirley, publishing in March. The companies plan to publish two or three novels a year.
