When compiling the most recent bestseller lists last week, we noticed two different versions of Fran Littlewood’s AMAZING GRACE ADAMS charting (under two different ISBNs). There is the “original recipe” jacket, displaying a full middle finger — as well as a more TV- and retailer-friendly version, with a quote burst that covers the finger. Holt executive director of publicity Caitlin Mulrooney-Lyski writes in answer to our query, “The full finger was the primary edition, but we created the burst cover for any accounts that preferred it as well as the Today Show for the Jenna pick,” which is apparently a […]

Excerpt Highlights October Romney Biography
A newsmaking excerpt from McKay Coppins’ forthcoming biography ROMNEY: A Reckoning aligned with the Senator’s announcement he will not seek re-election. And the serial in the Atlantic adds the book to the list of high-profile memoirs and biographies looking to lift nonfiction sales this fall. Romney told Coppins of his decision not to run “earlier this year.” He “began meeting with Romney in the spring of 2021. The senator hadn’t told anyone he was talking to a biographer, and we kept our interviews discreet.” The excerpt includes many quotable stories, including the revelation that Romney texted Senator Mitch McConnell on […]

CorreX In Real Time
The pre-publication rollout of Walter Isaacson’s Tuesday release ELON MUSK took an unexpected turn after a sensational disclosure in one excerpt in the Washington Post was refuted by Musk himself and then corrected by Isaacson. Isaacson billed the excerpt as “the inside story of how Musk used Starlink to help Ukraine, then pulled back one tense Friday night.” In the incident in question, “The Ukrainian military was attempting a sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet based at Sevastopol in Crimea by sending six small drone submarines packed with explosives, and it was using Starlink to guide them to the […]
An Exclusive Britney Spears Excerpt
The fall release schedule is packed, including celebrity memoirs spanning the wide range from Britney Spears (The Woman In Me; 10/24) to former Macmillan Publishers ceo John Sargent (Turning Pages; 9/19). Below, we bring those two together in a pre-publication excerpt. The book is told in Sargent’s inimitable voice, with stories from his unusual childhood, adventures and misadventures on the slopes and in the surf, and a number of publishing tales — from indelible personalities and notable authors to battles over agency ebook pricing, the publication of FIRE AND FURY and, ultimately, his own job. The chapter on the latter […]
Forthcoming: THE TRUMP INDICTMENTS
On September 25, Mariner Books will publish the complete indictments against Donald Trump as THE TRUMP INDICTMENTS: The 91 Criminal Counts Against the Former President of the United States, edited and with an introduction by MSNBC correspondent Ali Velshi. The book will include the cases brought in New York, Georgia, and federal courts that accuse the former president of mishandling classified documents and attempting to overturn the 2020 election, which are “purposely crafted as narratives to be read by the public,” according to a press release. Mariner publisher Peter Hubbard acquired the book from Byrd Leavell at United Talent Agency.
