Sally Marvin is joining the Gallery Publishing Group as vice president, director of publicity, starting July 22 and reporting to Jennifer Bergstrom. She was previously director of Random House events and event partnerships. Jennifer Robinson will step down from day-to-day management of the publicity department, moving to the new position of vice president, executive publicist, focusing on celebrity and pop culture campaigns. Deputy director of publicity Jean Anne Rose will leave on August 15, but will continue to work with the company on a freelance basis. Why Barnes & Noble Didn’t Accept Readerlink’s Higher Bid

Barnes & Noble has issued a formal tender offer to shareholders as part of the proposed acquisition by Elliott Advisors for $6.50 a share. The offer, which requires approval by a majority of shareholders, expires on August 6. Within the documents, it is estimated that the deal will cost approximately $745 million in toto, to purchase the shares outstanding (roughly $490 million), take over and refinance the debt, and pay other fees and expenses.
