Dorling Kindersley cfo Stephen Twilliger will move to Rodale on August 8 as their evp and cfo, reporting to ceo Maria Rodale. In the announcement Rodale notes a planned expansion in children’s books: “His deep experience in book publishing and children’s publishing, a key launch area for us in 2017; strong leadership and communication skills, proven track record and passion for the work we do at Rodale make him an ideal candidate.” Senior Advisor at Providence Equity Brian Napack is joining an expanding board of directors at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, bringing the board up to eight members. Neil Gaiman‘s NORSE MYTHOLOGY, a retelling of the Norse myths, was announced for publication in February 2017 — available for pre-order now — and it will come from a new publisher for Gaiman, Norton. The publisher commissioned the book, via editor Amy Cherry. She notes in the announcement, “Neil Gaiman is a mythic writer in all senses of the word. In Norse Mythology, he performs the high-wire act of giving us the power, magic, and comic wit of these tales while creating an immensely satisfying narrative that reads almost like a novel.” Gaiman adds that the “Norse tales have accompanied me through pretty much everything […]

Sara Nelson will join HarperCollins in the new role of vp, executive editor and special advisor to the publisher on July 18. She will acquire titles and “work closely with publisher Jonathan Burnham, as a strategic advisor.” Nelson has been the editorial director for Books and Kindle at Amazon since 2012.
