The US Court for the District of Texas Austin Division has certified the class in the class action suit against Scribe Media and its successor. Former employees sued the publisher for failing to comply with the WARN Act’s notice requirement when it terminated 90 its employees in 2023. Swift Book Criticized for Errors
Fans online have complained about typos and printing issues in Taylor Swift’s Target-exclusive Eras Tour Book. According to online posts, some copies of the book have sections missing and some have pages printed upside down. At least one fan with a significant printing issue exchanged their copy at Target. Even in correctly printed books, several photos that center Swift are printed on two-page spreads such that the singer is nearly invisible in the crease between pages. Harper Collins will launch Harper Pop, an imprint “focused on licensed publications, popular culture, and trend-driven publishing for both adults and children” in winter 2025. Overseeing the imprint will be Dave Linker, editorial director; Erica Sussman, vp, publisher at HarperCollins Children’s; and Carrie Thornton, svp, publisher of Dey Street Books. Tattered Cover Laid Off 15 Employees Following Sale to BN
Colorado book chain Tattered Cover laid off 15 employees since its acquisition by Barnes & Noble this summer, retaining 51 staff people. Westword reports that staff sat for re-interviews during the transition process, resulting in the layoffs. The retailer’s June bankruptcy filing asserted that BN planned to offer employment to “substantially all” of Tattered Cover’s employees.
