BookCon to Return in April
BookCon, ReedPop’s consumer/fan-focused book event, will return to New York’s Javits Center April 18-19, 2026. The show ran from 2014-2019 as an add-on to Book Expo and was “retired” after it moved to a virtual event in 2020. ReedPop told USA Today that next year’s BookCon will be a “wholly reimagined event” with author panels, signings, workshops, and “crafting zones.” They are currently looking for exhibitors. Forthcoming: The Book of Sheen
Gallery Books will publish Charlie Sheen‘s memoir, THE BOOK OF SHEEN, on September 9. SVP and publisher Jennifer Bergstrom acquired world rights from Betsy Berg at Berg Entertainment Enterprises and Ian Kleinert at Paradigm. VP, editorial director Aimee Bell will edit. Inclusive Access Leads to Less Student Spending, Report Finds
College student spending on course materials declined 4 percent in the 2024-2025 school year from the previous year, market researcher Student Monitor reports. Additionally, individual student spending has gone down 54 percent over the past 10 years, with each student spending approximately $318 in 2024-2025, compared to $691 in 2014-2015. The decline is attributed in part to participation in “inclusive access” programs that provide students with all of their textbooks at the beginning of the year, purchased by the institution in bulk.
