John Crutcher, who co-founded Bloomberg Press and was most recently global director of trade sales, has left Bloomberg LP following the press’s partnership with Wiley and can be reached at jcrutcher@gmail.com. The Toby Press laid off editor Deborah Meghnagi Bailey, who will now work for them freelance, and has canceled three books from its fall list of six or seven titles. Nigel Roby, managing director of UK trade magazine The Bookseller, has reached an agreement “in principle” to buy the property from Nielsen. The magazine says that “negotiations are expected to conclude at the end of April. All the editorial, sales and marketing and events teams will remain in place.” At Wiley, Steve Miron is being promoted to svp of the STMS (scientific, technical, medical, and scholarly) division, effective May 1. Soho Press will move their worldwide distribution–including ebooks–to Random House as of January 1, 2011. They have been distributed by Consortium since 2003 Marcy Posner, formerly agent and foreign rights director at Sterling Lord Literistic, has joined Folio Literary Management as an agent specializing in children’s and young adult as well as women’s fiction, romance and serious and commercial non-fiction. Perseus Opens Up Digital Distribution Service; Will Aggregate for iBookstore

The Perseus Books Group is expanding their digital distribution service Constellation to make it an option for any independent publisher, now opening it up to clients who are not already customers of the company’s physical distribution services. In concert with that strategic move, Perseus has been named an approved aggregator for Apple’s iBookstore, joining the list of seven other companies that we covered earlier in the week.
