When we created our cool linked tables of publishers’ imprints and divisions at PublishersMarketplace.com we were told Harper Entertainment didn’t exist anymore and now it’s clear why: the line is turning into a whole new imprint, It Books. The line is run by publisher Carrie Kania, with Mauro di Preta serving as associate publisher and Cal Morgan as editorial director. Kania and Morgan remain as publisher and editorial director of Harper Perennial, too. Rob Weisbach is starting a “new generation management company,” Rob Weisbach Creative Management, designed to “re-conceive the traditional literary agency as a cross-training development company–one that will work with new and established talent on all aspects of career building. Weisbach represented Norman Ollestad’s CRAZY FOR THE STORM last July. Vintage Broadens Spanish-Language Publishing

Vintage Español has announced a significant expansion through a co-publishing agreement with their parent company’s co-venture Random House Mondadori. Starting this fall, Vintage will reissue approximately 50 of RH Mondadori’s bestselling backlist titles, including all of the Spanish-language editions of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s work, along with works by such authors as Pablo Neruda, Federico García Lorca, Ken Follett, John Grisham, Cormac McCarthy, and Mary Higgins Clark. Vintage will also publish 15 new frontlist titles in Spanish (mostly in paperback) annually as part of the initiative. Pocket in Co-Publishing Agreement with Juno Books

Juno Books, best-known for “contemporary fantasy novels that emphasize strong female protagonists in richly imagined contexts,” will become an imprint of Pocket Books, starting with Lori Devoti’s AMAZON INK in June 2009. They plan to co-publish one title a month together. Juno started in publishing in fall 2009. Editor Paula Guran will work together with Pocket’s Jennifer Heddle on the line. Rizzoli is forming a new unit to expand their business in museum-related publishing called Skira Rizzoli International Publications Inc. Massimo Vitta Zelman has the post of chairman at the new company and longtime Rizzoli New York Publisher Charles Miers serves as president. Karen Hansgen joins the company as associate publisher of Skira Rizzoli. She has been director of publications at the New Museum of Contemporary Art and at the International Center of Photography in New York, and previously worked as a book packager. Candlewick Press will launch their first separate imprint, Templar Books, in spring 2009, in partnership with UK-based Templar Publishing. They’ll issue eight books in the spring and “nearly a dozen” in the fall. (Templar produces the bestselling ‘Ology series that Candlewick already publishes in the US.)
